The IATA Hall of Fame is the most prestigious honor bestowed by the organization. Inductees are recognized for their lifetime achievements, unwavering dedication, and meaningful contributions that have shaped and advanced the profession of athletic training in Indiana. These individuals set the standard for excellence and serve as an inspiration to future generations of athletic trainers.

Nomination Process

  1. The nomination form and all required materials must be completed and submitted via the nomination link by the deadline of March 20.
  2.  A curriculum vitae/resume MUST be submitted. 
  3. Two letters of support that should touch on the eligibility criteria to the author’s ability. Please make sure that each eligibility criteria is addressed in the letters to make it easy to identify. 
  4.  Nomination must come from an IATA certified member.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Nominee must be an Indiana state licensed Athletic Trainer.
  2. Nominee must have worked a minimum of fifteen (15) years in Indiana.
  3. Nominee can be eligible if he/she were retired or deceased prior to the formation of the IATA.
  4. Nominee must be a member of the IATA.
  5. Nominee is/has been active in advancing the profession of Athletic Training and Sports Medicine (i.e.: education, research, speaking, writing, etc.).
  6. Nominee must be a well-respected member of their community (i.e.: volunteer, civic organizations, church, school).
  7. Nominee should have made/make contributions/support to the IATA and the profession of Athletic Training.
  8. Nominee should have made/make positive contributions to healthcare in Indiana.

Selection Process

  1. The Honors and Awards Committee shall make a recommendation of no less than one (1) and no more than three (3) candidates to the IATA Executive Council per awards cycle.
  2. In the event that no nomination is received, the Awards Committee rejects all nominee/s, or the Executive Council rejects the nominee/s, the Awards Committee is then responsible for nominating and recommending a candidate to the Executive Council.
  3. Non-selected nominees will be considered one additional year following the initial nomination.
  4. Nominee discussions shall remain confidential among Honors and Awards Committee and IATA Executive Council

Election Process

  1. The Executive Council officially elects the Athletic Trainer for induction into the Hall of Fame.
  2. No more than three recipients will be selected per year.
  3. The Election results are publicly announced at the IATA awards presentation.

In the event that no nomination is received or the Awards Committee rejects all nominee/s, the Executive Council is then responsible for putting forth a nomination.
